So, the good news is I am on vacation! \u00a0Yay for me! \u00a0The bad news is I am sitting on my couch at home typing this. \u00a0We are supposed to be on our way to a beautiful beach in the Bahamas, which I must say we’ve been looking forward to quite a bit. \u00a0Alas, it was not to be. \u00a0We had all the details squared away. \u00a0Bags packed, check. \u00a0Dog-sitter lined up, check. \u00a0Time off work, check. \u00a0Passports, uhhhhh… \u00a0Whoops. \u00a0We had the rather stomach-lurching realization on Saturday afternoon that they were locked away in our safe-deposit box at the bank. \u00a0The bank that had closed an hour earlier. \u00a0This rather deflating news effectively wiped out our week-long vacation. \u00a0So, if anybody is looking for a great deal on a cruise package to the Bahamas, we are willing to let our tickets go for a great price. \u00a0The only catch is \u00a0you have to have access to a time machine also. \u00a0Any takers??<\/p>\n
In spite of our vacation crash-and-burn, we tried to make the best of the weekend, with some limited success. \u00a0We went down to the Brookside parade on Saturday, which is always a festive event. \u00a0I swear it gets bigger every year too, the streets were packed. \u00a0From there we caught the bus down to the Power and Light and went to the Missouri game. \u00a0THAT was a blast. \u00a0Even having less-than-optimal seats, it was an exciting game. \u00a0Afterwards we hung out in the KC Live area for a while, just sort of people-watching, which there was plenty of opportunity for.<\/p>\n
We spent most of Sunday furiously making phone calls, in a last-ditch effort to change the national immigration laws before our flight Monday morning. \u00a0Alas, our efforts would ultimately prove futile. \u00a0Even my best arguments fell on deaf ears. \u00a0(1. \u00a0“Are you SURE the Bahamas aren’t in the US?” \u00a02. \u00a0“This is my vacation we’re talking about here.” \u00a03. \u00a0“Pretty please??”) \u00a0We did actually get in touch with the bank, which I thought was our best bet. \u00a0Unfortunately the news was that the vault was on a time lock, and simply couldn’t be opened until Monday. \u00a0RATS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
