{"id":1337,"date":"2012-08-06T10:12:35","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T15:12:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=1337"},"modified":"2012-08-06T14:34:13","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T19:34:13","slug":"nice-day-nice-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/nice-day-nice-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"Nice Day, Nice Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another one in the books. \u00a0Not a whole lot to report on either, save a rather nice bike ride on Sunday. \u00a0But just for the sake of consistency I&#8217;ll at least briefly recount the other two days. \u00a0Friday, well, you know the drill. \u00a0Went to the &#8216;Sider and hung out with the boys. \u00a0We did throw in a bit of a twist though. \u00a0Around seven o&#8217;clock or so, Donette came down dressed up \u00a0all\u00a0fancy-like and said she wanted to go out to dinner. \u00a0A little notice might have been nice on these plans, as I was wearing some random tee-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. \u00a0That usually bothers her more than myself though, so we wrapped things up on the patio and walked down the street to <a title=\"Domo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domokc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Domo Sushi<\/a>. \u00a0I don&#8217;t recall how we came to an agreement on this place, as we&#8217;d been there once before and were definitely somewhat less than impressed. \u00a0It had been at least a year since our last visit, and all I could remember was thinking &#8220;over-priced and mediocre.&#8221; \u00a0This time I left feeling like I&#8217;d found my new favorite restaurant; \u00a0Matter of fact I&#8217;m quite excited to get back there soon. \u00a0We had four rolls; \u00a0Avocado, spicy tuna, cucumber and alligator. \u00a0They were all very good, and there was so much we could barely finish it all. \u00a0The price was more than reasonable too, I would even say inexpensive. \u00a0All I can think is we must have ordered wrong last time we were there. \u00a0At any rate we&#8217;ll be back for another try in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was sort of an off day. \u00a0I was getting ready for a bike ride on Sunday so I wanted to rest up. \u00a0Spent most of the day watching the\u00a0Olympics, and we did get out for a few hours of shopping. \u00a0Took the bicycle in for a last-minute tuneup, went and picked up my packet for the ride, blah blah.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday I rode in the &#8220;<a title=\"Sunflowers to Roses\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sunflowerstoroses.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sunflowers to Roses<\/a>&#8221; \u00a0bike ride with Munkirs and my friend Don. \u00a0This was the first time participating in this one for all three of us, and I&#8217;d say it received mixed reviews. \u00a0As far as support I&#8217;d give it an A+. \u00a0They gave you some cool freebies before the ride, had plenty of rest-stops along the route, and a nice BBQ after the ride. \u00a0The negatives I&#8217;d say all fall in the &#8220;what can you do&#8221; category. \u00a0It was a very hilly route, which gets old after a while. \u00a0And, while it was mercifully cooler than it has been, it still got a little toasty and quite windy too. \u00a0All-in-all I had a good time though. \u00a0We all three rode the 57 mile route option and didn&#8217;t have much trouble with that distance. \u00a0(Mind you, I&#8217;m typing this standing up, but that&#8217;s just part of the fun of cycling I guess.) \u00a0After that I felt like I&#8217;d earned a calorie splurge, so I picked up Donette and we headed up to 75th Street for lunch. \u00a0I opted for the Kobe Beef Burger with blue cheese and a side of fries, always delish. \u00a0The rest of the day was spent on the couch recovering, both from the burger and the bike ride. \u00a0Watched the Royals game and a few horrid movies. \u00a0The first selection was &#8220;<a title=\"Eye of the TIger\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0091027\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eye of the Tiger<\/a>.&#8221; \u00a0I&#8217;ve never been much of a Gary Busey fan, and now I remember why. \u00a0Boy did that soundtrack rock though. \u00a0After that I watched &#8220;<a title=\"Tank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0088224\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tank<\/a>,&#8221; which about made me want to discontinue my Netflix account. \u00a0Rather inexplicably, before I watched it I actually saw that it starred James Garner and Shirley Jones, yet I STILL elected to play it. \u00a0Maybe it was morbid curiosity spurred by the Partridge Family episode I&#8217;d watched earlier in the afternoon, I don&#8217;t know. \u00a0And James Garner as the hard-core, old-school\u00a0Sergeant Major?
