{"id":1359,"date":"2012-09-10T12:34:07","date_gmt":"2012-09-10T17:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=1359"},"modified":"2012-09-10T12:34:07","modified_gmt":"2012-09-10T17:34:07","slug":"back-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/back-to-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Back To School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another 3-day weekend, score! \u00a0And not a bad one at that. \u00a0I had Friday off due to my dedicated service as the oncall last week. \u00a0I started this fine day by taking Teagan out to the new dog park at Swope. \u00a0It&#8217;s right on Gregory Blvd, about five miles east of us, making it much more\u00a0convenient\u00a0than Shawnee Mission park. \u00a0Make no mistake, it&#8217;s not as NICE as Shawnee Mission, but a reasonable substitute. \u00a0If only they had a small lake&#8230; \u00a0But what can ya&#8217; do. \u00a0We still had a good time I guess; \u00a0She fetched until she dropped, then we headed back home. \u00a0She took a good nap, then around noon her &#8220;private tutor&#8221; came over. \u00a0I think Teagan has noticed all the other neighborhood kids going back to school, and she felt a bit left out of the action. \u00a0So, I hired this lady to come over and give her a little schooling. \u00a0It went OK I guess. \u00a0We did some walking up and down the block, checked out her back-yard issues a bit, and went over some basic obedience. \u00a0As it happened, none of her usual &#8220;distractions&#8221; were available to give the lady a practical demonstration her\u00a0nuisance\u00a0behaviors. \u00a0The class went something like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Her: \u00a0&#8220;Ummmm \u00a0there really is nothing wrong with your dog.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Me: \u00a0&#8220;This is a scam! \u00a0She&#8217;s horrible!! \u00a0She&#8217;s putting on an act for you.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Her: \u00a0&#8220;She is acting perfectly. \u00a0She&#8217;s probably not going to bring you coffee or anything.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Me: \u00a0&#8220;She&#8217;s eating the neighbor&#8217;s garage!!! \u00a0LOOK AT IT, SHE DID THAT!!!&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Her: \u00a0&#8220;Sure she did that. \u00a0Ohhhhh look at that lil&#8217; face, she didn&#8217;t do that.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Little monster, I tell you. \u00a0Oh well, it was sort of fun. \u00a0After that I headed down to the Brooksider for my Friday afternoon fun-time, and so went my day off.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was rather nice too. \u00a0Some of Donette&#8217;s running friends invited us up to Lake Viking, so we headed up there for a little boating, BBQ, and fun stuff like that. \u00a0Dakin joined us for that event, and I quite enjoyed the day. \u00a0Definitely scored on the weather too, it was NICE! \u00a0We even took jackets just in case, although it turned out just right for tee-shirts and shorts. \u00a0Good afternoon, but the drive wore me out. \u00a0(As most drives will do&#8230;) \u00a0When we got back home I hit the couch, and that was it for the day. \u00a0Queue the bad movies for the rest of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday I started off strong, as did Donette. \u00a0She headed off for a group run with her sister (a 5k if I remember correctly,) and I set about a few household chores. \u00a0My major undertaking was re-siding my poor neighbor&#8217;s garage, which the dog really HAD eaten. \u00a0I swear, she did it! \u00a0We had to go to a custom lumber store, and bought 24 ft. of beveled cedar siding. \u00a0Want to know how much those boards were?
