Wow, were did THAT<\/strong> weekend go?\u00a0 Somebody owes me two days of entertainment, or at least an explaination of why they went by so fast.\u00a0 Friday escapes me totally…\u00a0 I went out after work for a bit with my co-workers, but after that is a black hole.\u00a0 I imagine I sat in front of my PC and worked on my web site.\u00a0 Those of you with an extra keen eye may have noticed the “Slug-II” designation on the menu bar in place of the defunct recipe link.\u00a0 This is hopefully the only noticeable indicator that I’m running on my “backup” server.\u00a0 (Well, that and the omission of the recently added\u00a0“Poll.”\u00a0 There’s a good reason for that, which wouldn’t interest anybody at all.\u00a0 It’ll be back shortly.)\u00a0 The bad news is that my regular one died, the good news is my super-duper backup plan worked near flawlessly.\u00a0 OK now I remember what else we did;\u00a0 We watched two episodes of “The Dog Whisperer” off the DVR.\u00a0 Boy how could I forget that.\u00a0 Fun for the whole family.<\/p>\n

Saturday was relatively busy.\u00a0 We got up at the crack of 9:00, got ready,\u00a0and drove out to Overland Park for the big sale at Scooter World<\/a>.\u00a0 Yeah, this was an EVENT baby.\u00a0 We got a trunk for our machine, and a “battery tender” which will work for both the scooter and the motorcycle.\u00a0 The shop was pretty packed;\u00a0 It’s the way of the future I tell you.\u00a0 After that exciting melee, we headed on down to Microcenter to buy a replacement part for the aforementioned dead server.\u00a0 That trip doesn’t warrant a whole lot of detail.\u00a0 We then headed back to the proper side of State Line and hit Dick’s Sporting Goods, in the quest for new gym shoes.\u00a0 As usual, their inventory consisted of absolutely nothing;\u00a0 I don’t really know why I even go to that place.\u00a0 We left empty-handed.\u00a0 That effectively wrapped up our Saturday;\u00a0 we took a nap, then I watched “Master of the Flying Guillotine” for the fifth time, and then I went in to work.\u00a0 Yee haw.<\/p>\n

Sunday I woke up rather early and got to work again on restoring my web server.\u00a0 I don’t remember it being that hard… I think I’m missing something.\u00a0 Oh well, keeps me out of trouble.\u00a0 I got pretty close to bringing it back online… Some mysterious SQL sync’ing to do and it should be set for another year or so.\u00a0 After a while I noticed it looked too nice out to be sitting inside, so I went out and installed the trunk on the scooter.\u00a0 This involved a few trips to Sutherlands and lots of bad language, similar to every other time I’ve picked up a screwdriver.\u00a0 Suffice to say nothing that says “universal fit” ever is.\u00a0 That fact, coupled with my inherent tool incompetence, always leads to adventure.\u00a0 Hey, I got it attached though, if in a rather unique fashion.\u00a0 We’ll see how long it stays that way.\u00a0 By the time I finished that project, it was REALLY nice out, so I hopped on and took it for a road test.\u00a0 I zipped around for an hour or so, ending up at the Brooksider to hang out with the boys for a bit.\u00a0 That pretty much ended the weekend;\u00a0 Todd came over and watched some bad TV and ate crab cakes (??) but I was too tired from working the night before, so I retired early.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
