{"id":205,"date":"2007-06-25T09:27:18","date_gmt":"2007-06-25T14:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=205"},"modified":"2007-06-25T11:10:31","modified_gmt":"2007-06-25T16:10:31","slug":"partial-retractions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/partial-retractions\/","title":{"rendered":"Partial Retractions??!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I may actually have to retract to some of my bad-mouthing from last week, believe it or not.\u00a0 As Donette pointed out, American Airlines was only responsible for 1 of our 2 luggage mishaps, not both.\u00a0 Dang it.\u00a0 And as for the coffee guy??\u00a0 Well, when I went to coffee last Monday, I was very dismayed to find my favorite shop was closed for business.\u00a0 This was very disconcerting, as I&#8217;ve developed something of a nice, familiar routine there.\u00a0 Every now and then I give them some money, and then I just walk in and pour a cup of coffee, sit down and read my paper.\u00a0 After some number of weeks, the girl will catch me on my way out and say &#8220;You&#8217;ve used up your tab&#8221; and I give her some more money.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a very effective system, and one I&#8217;m quite fond of.\u00a0 But, alas, it looked like I was going to have to find coffee elsewhere.\u00a0 So Tuesday, I stopped in at the shop around the corner.\u00a0 There were a few other coffee refugees I recognized from the other shop so I figured it was safe.\u00a0 I passed the girl my cup and said &#8220;coffee,&#8221; and what happens???\u00a0 She starts peppering me with questions, just like the guy in Spain!!\u00a0 &#8220;Do you need room for cream?\u00a0 Would you like a light or dark brew?\u00a0 Iced or hot?&#8221;\u00a0 She seemed a bit taken aback when I burst into tears, but I am in no shape for that level of interaction at 7:00 in the morning.\u00a0 So, perhaps the word &#8220;coffee&#8221; is not quite the internationally recognized, catch-all phrase I thought.\u00a0 Word on the street is that my usual shop is back open this week.\u00a0 I can only hope, because I am tired of making my own every morning and it&#8217;s apparent that I&#8217;m not quite ready to move on to another location.<\/p>\n<p>It was a relatively quiet weekend for the Kenagys.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, we did nothing at all.\u00a0 I think we&#8217;re still trying to catch up on everything from the long vacation, and besides that I was on-call.\u00a0 Saturday we walked the dogs down to the Brooksider and hung out on the deck for a while, which they seemed to enjoy.\u00a0 In the category of &#8220;it&#8217;s a small world,&#8221; the people sitting at the table next to us recognized us from Seville! \u00a0We&#8217;d spoken with them briefly there, (they commented on Chris&#8217; Royals shirt) and it turns out they live right down the street.\u00a0 Wacky.\u00a0 Sunday brought a similarly quiet day;\u00a0 Other than a motorcycle ride out through Overland Park we didn&#8217;t do a whole lot.\u00a0 Maybe things will pick back up next weekend.\u00a0 Or maybe not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I may actually have to retract to some of my bad-mouthing from last week, believe it or not.\u00a0 As Donette pointed out, American Airlines was only responsible for 1 of our 2 luggage mishaps, not both.\u00a0 Dang it.\u00a0 And as for the coffee guy??\u00a0 Well, when I went to coffee last Monday, I was very [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-205","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/205","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=205"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/205\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=205"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=205"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=205"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
