Things are slow out here, very slow. \u00a0I had a few note-worthy events over the last few weeks though. \u00a0One thing, I went mountain biking with some guys last week. \u00a0I rather miss cycling, and I’ve about accepted nobody I know out here is going to road-ride with me, so I caved and got a mountain bike. \u00a0Different world, I know that. \u00a0I pretty much suffered the whole ride, but it was oddly fun. \u00a0It didn’t help that it was pitch dark\u00a0out, making it rather hard to see. \u00a0I’ve got lights, but they weren’t really cutting it. \u00a0Eh, I only wrecked once, I’ll call it a victory. \u00a0Granted, it’s hard to wreck when you’re walking your bike most of the time, but we’ll leave that part out.<\/p>\n
As far as the weekend goes, we stayed in Friday night. \u00a0It’s starting to get a little nicer out, so I moved my TV out to the back patio and hung out there for the evening. \u00a0Doesn’t take a whole lot to entertain me. \u00a0Saturday it was even nicer out, so I grabbed a few slabs of ribs from the grocery and fired up the smoker. \u00a0It was an experiment of sorts. \u00a0I bought one slab of loin backs, and one slab of spares. \u00a0Same exact rub, same cook times, to see which I liked better. \u00a0Not a particularly valid experiment, as I already had it in my head I like spares better, but it was fun all the same. \u00a0Both of them came out quite passable. \u00a0I declare BBQ season officially OPEN. \u00a0Sunday we got off to a pretty slow start. \u00a0I made the critical error of turning on the TV, finding a few movies, and wasting a rather embarrassing part of the afternoon. \u00a0It happens. \u00a0It happens quite frequently, actually. \u00a0Doni hosted her annual Oscars party that evening, so eventually I had to get up and around to help with preparations for that. \u00a0It’s a “girls only” event, so when it kicked off I headed over to a buddy’s house with a few other banished husbands for steaks on the grill. \u00a0Works for me.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
