{"id":2840,"date":"2016-08-23T10:49:46","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T17:49:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=2840"},"modified":"2016-08-23T10:49:46","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T17:49:46","slug":"out-and-about","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/out-and-about\/","title":{"rendered":"Out And About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We stayed a little closer to home this weekend, mostly because we spent too much money the last few. \u00a0We did get out and enjoy a new place though. \u00a0Now that we&#8217;ve lived here nearly 3 years we thought perhaps we should try a few different places, instead of just making the same trips over and over. \u00a0(OK we just went to a new place two weeks ago, I guess that was the start of this new plan.) \u00a0So, for our revered &#8220;Sunday Funday&#8221; this week, we joined another couple at nearby <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slyparklake.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sly Park, aka Jenkinson Lake<\/a>. \u00a0All in all, a great facility, we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon there. \u00a0We took our inflatable kayak, they rented a few, and we paddled around the lake for a little picnic lunch. \u00a0As a matter of fact, we are considering going back this coming weekend and doing a little camping, but who knows if that will come together. \u00a0I only had a few quibbles, most of which related to price. \u00a0Yes, I know that seems to be a recurring theme&#8230; hmmm. \u00a0And, not so much last weekend, but as we look towards camping there. \u00a0They got us for $11 entry fee last weekend; \u00a0Fair enough. \u00a0There were 4 of us and we had a good day of entertainment. \u00a0Checking out the campgrounds though, good grief. \u00a0Granted, I haven&#8217;t tent-camped in a long time, but their tent-only sites are $35 to $55? \u00a0And that only allows one car, we&#8217;ll need two. \u00a0(cha-ching.) \u00a0Want to bring Teagan? \u00a0Five bucks a day. \u00a0(cha-ching.) \u00a0Load of firewood? (double cha-ching.) \u00a0At the end of the day we&#8217;d be better off staying at the Holiday Inn by our house. \u00a0Speaking of Teagan, they don&#8217;t allow dogs in the water, which I&#8217;ll have an awfully hard time explaining to her. \u00a0I get it, it&#8217;s the drinking water source for the area, but I&#8217;d be a lot more concerned with what all those little kids swimming are doing
