{"id":318,"date":"2008-11-10T11:44:04","date_gmt":"2008-11-10T16:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=318"},"modified":"2008-11-10T11:44:04","modified_gmt":"2008-11-10T16:44:04","slug":"wheres-my-global-warming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/wheres-my-global-warming\/","title":{"rendered":"Where&#8217;s My Global Warming?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Man it got cold out in a hurry.\u00a0 I may have missed my window of opportunity to (comfortably) get my motorcycle out to Mom&#8217;s for winter storage.\u00a0 If you happen to see somebody screaming southbound on 71 wearing five layers of clothes, that might be me.<\/p>\n<p>That was a moderately entertaining weekend, if not too productive.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a good thing;\u00a0 I&#8217;ll take entertainment over productivity any day.\u00a0 We started off Friday night by meeting the Martins at the <a title=\"Crossroads\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadscommunityassociation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Crossroads district<\/a> to check out the First Friday event.\u00a0 That&#8217;s been on our list of &#8220;things we should probably do&#8221; for quite some time now.\u00a0 You pretty much go down there and walk around looking at all the interesting characters our city has to offer.\u00a0 There&#8217;s also a lot of art to look at, but I didn&#8217;t find that part nearly as interesting as the people-watching.\u00a0 One of Donette&#8217;s friends was showing a few pieces of pottery, so we checked that out, and that was really about it.\u00a0 I expect First Friday has been crossed off our list for a while.\u00a0 After that we stopped by the Power &amp; Light for a bit, and had dinner at the Flying Saucer.\u00a0 Despite being a long time fan of that place, I&#8217;d never eaten anything there but the cheese and cracker plate.\u00a0 It just never really looked like the sort of place that would have good food.\u00a0 This hunch proved to be true;\u00a0 It was rather marginal.\u00a0 At least now I know.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday we got up early and headed across the state line (gasp) for our friend Katy&#8217;s birthday party.\u00a0 She put together a nice little breakfast spread for everybody, which was quite delicious.\u00a0 Most of the group planned to have breakfast and then head to Westport and the boats, but we decided we&#8217;d just eat and run.\u00a0 I stuck to the plan, but Donette fell victim to peer pressure and headed out with the crowd.\u00a0 Later in the evening we met up with the Martins again and went to a party over at our friend John&#8217;s house.\u00a0 He throws a big Blues and BBQ party every year, which we have only managed to make it to once.\u00a0 The calendar was all clear this weekend though, so we got to go again.\u00a0 John hosts the Blues Kitchen show on <a title=\"KKFI Radio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kkfi.org\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">KKFI<\/a>, so he&#8217;s got access to all kinds of good local blues bands, making for a night of quality entertainment.\u00a0 Last time we were there the party was in his big garage, which I guess is pretty much just a big metal outbuilding.\u00a0 Same building this year, but he&#8217;d done the entire inside of it in barnboard with a corrugated tin ceiling.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a pretty cool place, not to mention the music sounded a lot better.\u00a0 We stayed through the third band, mostly because they had probably the coolest bass ever and we wanted to check it out.\u00a0 I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if Martin isn&#8217;t out shopping for an upgrade as we speak.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday we got up and went to the gym again;\u00a0 Two weeks in a row!\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t do the buffet this week though.\u00a0 We decided that, for the same money, Jalapenos is a better choice, so we headed there instead.\u00a0 After that Donette called it a weekend, and went home to curl up on the couch.\u00a0 Meanwhile, I spent my afternoon in the Brooksider watching all the games and listening to many fascinating recaps and views on the week&#8217;s political events.\u00a0 Mmmm hmmm.<\/p>\n<p>A quick scan of the previous paragraphs seems to indicate incoherent rambling;\u00a0 I think I&#8217;ll quit now.\u00a0 FYI, I have caved in to the will of the people and reverted back to the lame, spam-ridden <a title=\"BBS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/wwwboard\/\" target=\"_self\">message board<\/a> of old.\u00a0 Ingrates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man it got cold out in a hurry.\u00a0 I may have missed my window of opportunity to (comfortably) get my motorcycle out to Mom&#8217;s for winter storage.\u00a0 If you happen to see somebody screaming southbound on 71 wearing five layers of clothes, that might be me.
