Well, I didn’t make it an entire month getting this updated on Mondays.\u00a0 It was bound to happen.\u00a0 The bar was just set too high.\u00a0 I kept thinking something super-exciting was going to happen yesterday that I would need to include.\u00a0 Not remarkably, that did not occur.<\/p>\n
That wasn’t a very interesting weekend, but it had a few unusual twists.\u00a0 I am, for the record, generally against twists.\u00a0 Friday started things off nice and quiet.\u00a0 A friend came over and we whipped up a passable stir fry, then played some cards.\u00a0 Worth noting, I won.\u00a0 It was a pretty dominant victory actually, never really close.\u00a0 Truly a masterful display of cunning gamesmanship.<\/p>\n
Saturday started off in a typically mundane fashion.\u00a0 I broke down and got a new ipad, and spent the afternoon getting it all set up.\u00a0 I broke my old one in March (yes, nearly a year ago,) and have debated daily, possibly hourly, since then over whether to fix it or buy a new one.\u00a0 I finally opted for fixing the old one.\u00a0 As the logistics of this decision slowly settled in, (calling people, making appointments, driving to the mall, blah blah blah) I ended up changing my mind.\u00a0 I can do that.\u00a0 I am still convinced it was a solid decision too;\u00a0 I’m quite happy with the new one.\u00a0 For evening entertainment, there was a big dinner party at a friend’s house nearby.\u00a0 By “big,” I mean like a dozen people.\u00a0 Can’t help it, I panicked.\u00a0 I came up with some lame excuse and graciously declined the invite.\u00a0 The response was, “Oh good, then we can drop our kid at your house.\u00a0 Thanks!”\u00a0 Whoa, didn’t see that one coming.\u00a0 When another couple found out the arrangements, they were quick to pile on their little ‘uns also.\u00a0 Something went horribly, horribly awry.\u00a0 (Actually Donette sneakily went behind my back and offered to watch them as some type of life-lesson for declining the dinner invite.)\u00a0 Well, there went my Saturday night plans.\u00a0 Which is not to say I had any, but if I did, they’d have been certainly been disrupted.\u00a0 After some debate, we decided to take them out for pizza.\u00a0 When I say “we,” I am referring to Donette.\u00a0 Solid plan, it worked out very nicely.\u00a0 I could go into detail on the pizza place, but I’ll save that for another day.\u00a0 I’ll just go high-level and say I love to hate the place.\u00a0 They have reasonably priced food and a small arcade, which was key.\u00a0 “Here’s a handful of quarters, go play.”\u00a0 Perfectly executed plan.\u00a0 We were actually there for quite a while, ate some good pizza, then headed off for a stop at an ice cream shop for dessert.\u00a0 “Could have been worse.”<\/p>\n
Sunday was also a bit out of my rut.\u00a0 I have a pretty strict itinerary for my Sunday, especially the early hours.\u00a0 There is a lot of coffee and news involved.\u00a0 Nowhere in the schedule is there a line item for little girls running down the stairs at 7:00 screaming for pancakes.\u00a0 Nope, it’s just not in the plan.\u00a0 Pancakes were made though, if there was really even a decision to be made.\u00a0 Thankfully, they were even declared passable, although it was made clear they weren’t quite up to par with the ones at home.\u00a0 Whew.\u00a0 Thank goodness for Krusty’s.\u00a0 The little ‘uns got picked up around 9:00, then I made some effort to get back on track.\u00a0 I rallied nicely I think.\u00a0 Watched the games, then we had a birthday party (adults only, whew,) up the hill at a nice winery later in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
