{"id":361,"date":"2009-02-16T10:56:09","date_gmt":"2009-02-16T16:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=361"},"modified":"2009-02-16T11:11:27","modified_gmt":"2009-02-16T17:11:27","slug":"happy-valentines-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/happy-valentines-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Valentines Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow the big Valentine&#8217;s holiday has come and gone.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not totally over yet though, I get today off to celebrate it.\u00a0 At least I assume that&#8217;s why we got today off;\u00a0 I&#8217;m not asking questions.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t have much planned though.\u00a0 Go to the gym and maybe cook some dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Well that weekend didn&#8217;t come together quite as planned.\u00a0 Friday we were supposed to go bowling with a bunch of friends, an annual event sponsored by the Belangers.\u00a0 I was even planning to roll a few games this year.\u00a0 As it turned out though, neither of us were feeling very well.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know if we just had the beat-downs from the week or what.\u00a0 Plus, I was on call so that always cuts into my plans.\u00a0 We ended up staying home and going to bed around 7:30.\u00a0 Weak.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday we were still kind of shaky.\u00a0 We finally got up and around at ten o&#8217;clock or so, and headed down to Sharp&#8217;s for breakfast.\u00a0 It was ridiculously crowded as always.\u00a0 It reminds me of Jalapeno&#8217;s;\u00a0 It&#8217;s good but not <em>great<\/em>, yet there is always a 20 minute wait for a table.\u00a0 Odd.\u00a0 We stood around and scored some chairs at the bar finally.\u00a0 Breakfast revived us somewhat but we still took it easy the rest of the day just in case.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t do much for Valentine&#8217;s either.\u00a0 I&#8217;d planned a big dinner of grilled tuna, but that menu got re-worked real quick when I saw the price of fresh ahi.\u00a0 Instead we went with eggplant parmesan, which was still good and much more budget friendly.\u00a0 We had some <a title=\"mussels\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/bobby-flay\/mussels-steamed-with-lemon-grass-and-chile-de-arbol-recipe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">steamed mussels<\/a> too, which came out quite nicely.\u00a0 I&#8217;d been wanting to try cooking them since we had them at a bar in Dallas recently.\u00a0 Kind of an odd pairing with eggplant, but oh well.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday was similarly boring.\u00a0 We slept in, and then Donette went out with Anne &amp; Susan and I did a whole day&#8217;s worth of nothing.\u00a0 Other than taking the dog for a walk I really didn&#8217;t accomplish anything.\u00a0 We did go out to dinner at <a title=\"75th Street Brewery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.75thstreet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">75th Street<\/a>, which was fun.\u00a0 That place has been growing on us.\u00a0 It ranks pretty high on the list of &#8220;new places&#8221; we&#8217;ve been trying in our semi-successful attempt to go someplace besides the Brooksider.\u00a0 Not that there&#8217;s anything wrong with the &#8216;Sider, just need to branch out a bit.\u00a0 After dinner we went home and fired up the Rock Band game.\u00a0 The neighbor came over for a while to help play bass, and that pretty much wrapped up the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Note the weekly poll on the side of the page.\u00a0 I need to learn to play some kind of instrument so I can try out for &#8220;the band.&#8221;\u00a0 These are my top choices so far, but feel free to add suggestions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow the big Valentine&#8217;s holiday has come and gone.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not totally over yet though, I get today off to celebrate it.\u00a0 At least I assume that&#8217;s why we got today off;\u00a0 I&#8217;m not asking questions.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t have much planned though.\u00a0 Go to the gym and maybe cook some dinner.
