OK enough with the rain already.\u00a0 Luckily we did manage to get the lawn mowed Sunday, which was good.\u00a0 The bad news is we just mowed it Friday.\u00a0 Yes, it needs mowed every other day or you’re in for a big clumpy mess.\u00a0 Thanks for that Ryan’s<\/a>;\u00a0 What did you put down anyway, 50 lbs. of straight nitrogen?\u00a0 I guess we’re supposed to feel like we’re getting our moneys worth this way.\u00a0 Oh well, at least it’s green and growing I guess.<\/p>\n

I kicked the weekend off on Friday at, believe it or not, the Brooksider.\u00a0 I met up with one of my old high school buddies, Mike, who I hadn’t seen in…\u00a0 Oh, let’s just say a long time.\u00a0 We got at least partially caught up with each other.\u00a0 Hard to cover two decades in an hour and a half, but we hit the highlights.\u00a0 (I only have like three, so mine don’t take long.)\u00a0 After that I headed over to John & Susan’s house, where I found Donette hanging out in the back yard with Susan enjoying the warm weather.\u00a0 I joined them for a bit, then headed home and watched the Royals.<\/p>\n

Saturday was a longggg day for old man Phil.\u00a0 Donette abandoned me around noon to go to a “Mother-Daughter Tea” out in Grandview with my Mom, sisters, nieces and her Mom.\u00a0 While they were out sipping their Earl Grey, that left me at home with my two nephews.\u00a0 All alone, with Gabe as my only means of backup.\u00a0 (I tried to convince them that he would eat them if they misbehaved, but he didn’t look very menacing asleep on the couch.\u00a0 They never bought that threat.)\u00a0 Ahhhh, it wasn’t too bad.\u00a0 We played Rock Band the entire afternoon.\u00a0 On the downside, the only song they seemed to enjoy was “Eye of the Tiger.”\u00a0 I don’t think it would be a stretch to guess we played that horrible song fifteen times.\u00a0 And it was probably my least favorite song on the entire game before<\/em> that.\u00a0 Around 2:30 we went and picked up Donette and headed to the Royal’s game.\u00a0 We wanted to get there nice and early to get our super-duper jerseys<\/a>.\u00a0 We stood in line a bit, but it wasn’t bad, and we all got our jerseys.\u00a0 On the downside, we had three hours to kill before the game.\u00a0 I can now say I have thoroughly<\/strong> toured the inside of the new stadium.\u00a0 The boys did score Coco Crisp’s autograph though, so that was cool.\u00a0 And, the Royals lost the game in a convincing fashion, bringing my record of games attended to a perfect 0-4!!\u00a0 We gave up on them after the 7th inning.\u00a0 The boys wanted to stick around and hunt more autographs but ol’ Uncle Phil was done for the day.\u00a0 We topped off their day of excitement with a cool encounter with the Peculiar police department on the way home.\u00a0 Lights, sirens, and everything!!!\u00a0 They seemed to enjoy that almost as much as the game.\u00a0 I’m here for your entertainment boys.\u00a0 Gimme eighty bucks.<\/p>\n

Sunday we kind of sat around and waited for the devastating storms all day.\u00a0 What happened with that?\u00a0 Oh well, I’m glad they didn’t materialize.\u00a0 As mentioned, we did get the lawn mowed, and we also took Gabe for a short bike ride.\u00a0 He does very well, managing a solid 5 mile per hour trot beside Donette.\u00a0 Might have to make a habit of that.\u00a0 We watched the Royals lose again, then settled in for a night of old movies.\u00a0 Can’t think that we’ve ever done that, and I’m not sure what prompted it that night either.\u00a0 Boredom I suppose.\u00a0 We watched Big Jake<\/a>, and then Vera Cruz<\/a>, neither of which I’d ever sat through end-to-end.\u00a0 Pretty solid offerings I guess;\u00a0 I stayed awake through both of them anyway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
