Sigh."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I guess the holidays have officially arrived, and with it my annual bout of foul temperament.\u00a0 Blech.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see now;\u00a0 I guess I spent a rather unusual amount of time at the Brooksider this weekend.\u00a0 Mostly out of sheer boredom I think.\u00a0 I headed there Friday after work for a little happy hour, just to get the weekend started.\u00a0 Donette, meanwhile, was up in the northlands visiting her Dad, who unfortunately is stuck in the hospital to start the holidays.\u00a0 He had an unplanned surgery last Wednesday\u00a0 (as a follow-up to semi-planned surgery a week ago.)\u00a0 He&#8217;s recovering well, but it doesn&#8217;t look like he will be home in time for turkey-day at this point.\u00a0 Anyway, she spent the night up there so I stayed home and played Wii games with Gabe.\u00a0 I like playing him best because I can absolutely thrash him on almost every game.\u00a0 (Poor lil&#8217; guy can&#8217;t work the controller very well without thumbs.)<\/p>\n<p>Saturday I spent the greater part of the day on the couch.\u00a0 I finished tweaking my super-duper Windows 7 install;\u00a0 I think I&#8217;m finally ready to call it &#8220;done.&#8221;\u00a0 My backups aren&#8217;t running correctly, but I&#8217;ll just kick them off manually for the time being.\u00a0 After that, I took Gabe for a nice long walk and then went down to the Brooksider to watch the MU game.\u00a0 Alas, it was not to be found on any of their 5 bajillion channels!\u00a0 Geez, what a drag.\u00a0 They had it on the radio though, for what that was worth.\u00a0 I killed a few hours down there and then called it a day;\u00a0 Headed back home to the couch and reveled in the KU thrashing.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday we kicked off the day with breakfast at <a title=\"Amigos\" href=\"http:\/\/amigoskc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Amigos<\/a>.\u00a0 Man, that place is solid.\u00a0 We might have to make that drive part of our weekend routine.\u00a0 It&#8217;s considerably further than our &#8220;regular&#8221; spots, but I think it&#8217;s worth the drive.\u00a0 I almost went with the menudo on this visit, but didn&#8217;t feel quite that brave just yet.\u00a0 Maybe next time.\u00a0 I would guess roughly 1\/2 the people there ordered it, so it must be good.\u00a0 (As good as menudo gets, anyway&#8230;)\u00a0 After breakfast we headed up north and visited her Dad for a few hours, then it was back to the &#8216;Sider for an afternoon of football.\u00a0 We watched the highly improbable Chief&#8217;s victory, then stayed around for the 3:00 games too.\u00a0 After a while it started getting a little crowded, presumably with post-Chiefs-game revelers, so we walked across the street to the grocery store, picked up a coupla steaks, and headed home.\u00a0 Big ol&#8217; fat ribeyes;\u00a0 A fine ending to the weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I guess the holidays have officially arrived, and with it my annual bout of foul temperament.\u00a0 Blech.
