I am quite excited, it looks as if I just may be able to dig the scooter out of storage this week. \u00a0Might be pushing it a little bit, but I am so sick of riding that bus I’m willing to knock a few degrees off my “low temp” rule for riding. \u00a0We shall see what the week brings.<\/p>\n
Not a bad weekend, all in all. \u00a0We kicked off Friday with a bit of Happy Hour celebrating down at the Flying Saucer. \u00a0Just the two of us, for a romantic game of darts. \u00a0We hung out there for a \u00a0short bit, and then went to yet another “Grandview High School Get-Together” thingie. \u00a0Geez I’ve seen those people more in the last few months than I did in High School. \u00a0This time the location was “Howl at the Moon,” which is a piano bar down in the Power & Light district. \u00a0It was OK until the piano players started; \u00a0That’s just not really my kind of entertainment. \u00a0Must suit a lot of other people though, because it was packed. \u00a0We didn’t stay very long after the music started though.<\/p>\n
Saturday we got up and headed out to Cabela’s for a little light shopping. \u00a0Picked up a copy of “Big Game Hunter” for our Wii, a few new chairs and some disposable propane bottles. \u00a0Good sales!! \u00a0After that we stopped by Amigos in the ‘Dotte for a little lunch, then went home and played the new game for a while. \u00a0(It’s fun by the way, if you’re thinking of getting it.) \u00a0For evening entertainment, Donette headed down to the Sprint Center for the Billy Joel & Elton John show, with her friend Katie. \u00a0Meanwhile, I headed out to (gasp) Overland Park and met up with some out-of-town friends. \u00a0My ol’ Army buddy Scott & his wife were in town for a meeting out off College Blvd, so instead of trying to describe how to get to our area of town I just drove that way. \u00a0I stayed quite a bit later than I intended, but what can ‘ya do, we were having fun. \u00a0After that I headed back home and closed out the evening with some solo Rock Band.<\/p>\n
Sunday I slept in a bit, relatively speaking, then headed out to the big gun show with my buddy Mark. \u00a0YEEEE HAW!! \u00a0Good grief. \u00a0I think I’d take the “bus crowd” over the “gun show crowd” any day. \u00a0I thought the admission price was a little steep but after checking out the quality of the people-watching, I felt it was well worth it. \u00a0Just remember to strictly heed the “no touch, no talk, no eye-contact” rule. \u00a0We must have found the show (or the people-watching) pretty engaging, because we wandered around looking at stuff for 3 hours. \u00a0Bought a grand total of nothing too. \u00a0I had myself talked into a fancy new flashlight, but just couldn’t part with the cash. \u00a0Mark dropped me off at the Brooksider after the gun show, and I walked in to find the place was absolutely packed. \u00a0I wouldn’t have guessed it, but everybody was there to watch the big hockey game. \u00a0They were fired up too; \u00a0I can honestly say I have never seen a reaction down there anything like when the USA team scored that goal at the end of regulation. \u00a0Unfortunately it didn’t work out in the end, but it was still pretty exciting to watch and I was glad I lucked into seeing it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
