{"id":641,"date":"2010-05-17T07:56:06","date_gmt":"2010-05-17T12:56:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/?p=641"},"modified":"2010-05-17T07:56:07","modified_gmt":"2010-05-17T12:56:07","slug":"swim-anyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pkenagy.com\/blog\/swim-anyone\/","title":{"rendered":"Swim, Anyone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow this rain is getting a little ridiculous.\u00a0 May showers?\u00a0 I don&#8217;t believe that&#8217;s how the saying goes.\u00a0 I went ahead and rode my scooter to work today though, like a dummy.\u00a0 In a rather astounding display of foolishness, I can actually convince myself it&#8217;s not raining.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve done it quite a bit this Spring.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll open the front door and look outside, and see that there is wet stuff falling from the sky.\u00a0 The skies are black.\u00a0 Small creeks are running down the roads.\u00a0 Everybody walking has an umbrella in their hand.\u00a0 It&#8217;s <strong>raining<\/strong>!\u00a0 Then I will go upstairs and look at weather.com and say, &#8220;Ah, only a 30% chance of showers, I should be OK on the scooter.&#8221;\u00a0 And then I sit here in my sopping wet clothes and curse the weatherman all day.<\/p>\n<p>Well, predictably, that was a pretty lame weekend.\u00a0 Hard to do much in this weather.\u00a0 Friday was OK I guess;\u00a0 Sat on the deck at the Brooksider and watched the baseball game.\u00a0 Donette was at the game with her Mom.\u00a0 Not exactly a bang-up wild time on my part at least, but it beat sitting on the couch watching TV.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday we must never speak of.\u00a0 Pretend it didn&#8217;t happen.\u00a0 And, in a sense, it really didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 I was stranded car-less at home watching it rain.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday we were both getting a little stir-crazy I think.\u00a0 I wanted to go cycling, but I don&#8217;t like riding those skinny little tires on wet pavement.\u00a0 Bad combination.\u00a0 We sat on the couch staring at the TV for most of the morning, then finally decided we had to go somewhere.\u00a0 We opted for a little breakfast at <a title=\"Eggtc\" href=\"http:\/\/eggtc-kc.com\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Eggct<\/a> to get things started.\u00a0 Donette&#8217;s been there a few times but I never had, mostly because I find their name a little odd.\u00a0 It was insanely packed when we got there, with a pretty big crowd standing outside waiting for a table.\u00a0 I almost bailed out without even parking, but decided to at least check the wait and look at the menu.\u00a0 In a rare bit of luck, two seats opened up at the bar as soon as we walked in, so we snagged them.\u00a0 The breakfast was quite exceptional.\u00a0 I had a chorizo omelet,\u00a0 and Donette had corned beef hash;\u00a0 Both were awesome.\u00a0 After breakfast we went back home and settled in for some more boredom, but then decided to go watch the game down at the Brooksider.\u00a0 I sat out back on the covered part of the patio and enjoyed a rather marginal cigar, and Donette sat inside and socialized.\u00a0 Made for a fine afternoon.\u00a0 Not sure why it would be any more entertaining than sitting at home watching the same game, but it was.\u00a0 After the game we went next door and had dinner at <a title=\"Jalapenos\" href=\"http:\/\/jalapenoskc.com\/Home_Page.html\" target=\"_blank\">Jalapenos<\/a>, then went home and walked Gabe up to the movie rental place to get a flick.\u00a0 We decided on &#8220;<a title=\"Couples Retreat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1078940\/\" target=\"_blank\">Couple&#8217;s Retreat<\/a>,&#8221;
